Make your own Charcoal, FREE!

This is where you can buy our unique 'Charcoal Chamber' for only £14.85, a product which allows you to produce unlimited quantities of FREE charcoal quickly and at home.

No matter how hard we tried, we could not make a lump of charcoal look sexy!

From a BBQ standpoint, nothing works better. Char(coal) grilled is the only way of doing it and until now, it has been easy to get charcoal. You drive to your local petrol station, supermarket, or garden centre and give them some money. In return, they give you some burnt bits of wood.

We've designed a simple, a painfully simple, method of making your own charcoal for free. REALLY FREE. If you have a fire, a solid fuel stove, a wood burning stove, or even an open fire, a Charcoal Maker allows you to produce charcoal while you sleep.

ALL YOU DO IS FILL THE MAKER WITH SOME BITS OF WOOD, PLACE THE CHAMBER ON A FIRE. That's it!

After a few hours, the fire will be out, the Maker will be cool and when you open it, the sticks which you would have thrown for your dog will now be lumps of charcoal.

Now, the small print.

If you think you can toss this on your fire and have enough charcoal to cook for a big party tomorrow, FORGET IT!
It will take 2 to 4 evenings production to produce enough charcoal for a decent BBQ.  The aim behind this device is to make charcoal during the time when you're using your fire (Autumn, Winter, Spring, and if you stay in the UK, Summer) and effortlessly have ample supplies stored for the out-door fun days.
We try to remember to chuck the Maker onto the fire every evening before bed-time. The following day, I tip the COOLED contents into a garden refuse bag – a wee bit tougher than a bin bag. When the bag is filled, I tie it and place it where rain will not get in. By spring, I usually have enough bags to allow us to cook outdoors until Autumn. Of course, that can be Autumn of next year if it rains a lot!
IF THE MAKER IS TOO HOT TO TOUCH IN THE MORNING, WAIT UNTIL YOU CAN PICK IT UP BY HAND. A normal clue is that the fire will be out! If there are still red hot embers, the Maker is going to be HOT!
It is important that the small exhaust hole in the Maker is close to vertical when it is left on the fire. Hydrocarbons will exhaust through that hole and burn with a bright blue flame. If you feel like waiting till the ‘ready’ moment, the Maker can be removed from the logs when the blue flame goes out. Alternately, you can go to bed and remove it the next morning. Usually (depending on wood dryness and density) it takes around 3 hours for the charcoal to be ready BUT YOU WILL NOT overcook it by leaving it on all night.
When the wood turns to charcoal, it remains as charcoal. Full stop. Unlike my mothers chicken recipes, it will not be harmed by overcooking…
